Guidance

Guidance on Equality and Diversity can be obtained from a number of sources:

1. Equality and Human Rights Commission www.equalityhumanrights.com

  • They have published four sets of guidance to help employers, workers, service providers and service users understand the Equality Act 2010.
  • EHRC are also producing Codes of Practice on:
    • employment
    • services
    • public functions and associations
    • equal pay

2. Government Equalities Office (GEO) www.equalities.gov.uk

The GEO has produced a series of summary guides setting out what the new law will mean for business, the public sector, the voluntary sector and the public. These include case studies. The official and full version of the Equality Act 2010 can be downloaded from the GEO website.

3. ACAS www.acas.org.uk

Quick start guides and useful information for employers and workers can be downloaded from this webste.

4. NHS Equality and Diversity Council (EDC)

The EDC has developed an Equality Delivery System for the new NHS which will help to achieve better healthcare outcomes and improved access and services for all sectors of the population.

The EDC is also working on the production of guidance on the Equality Act 2010
