Clinical commissioning
The Government’s Health and Social Care bill sets out plans to move responsibility for commissioning health services from Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) to clinicians from April 2013. Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), previously known as GP consortia under the bill, will commission local services according to local needs.
Work is already underway to prepare for this significant change and from this site you can access up-to-date national and regional information about the move to clinical commissioning.
This site also intends to provide support to CCGs during the transitional period, ensuring that they have the resources they need to become fully established commissioning groups, and it complements the work being taken forward by PCT clusters across the region. More information (i.e. at PCT level) is provided on PCT websites which can be accessed via useful Links.
